When I test a new shop I usually start with one or two items instead of a huge order. Sometimes I even measure an existing frame with a ruler before ordering anything new. If they ignore basic questions or reply with copy pasted text, I become suspicious. Forums, blogs and communities create a kind of collective memory for shoppers.
If anyone is interested in real user experiences, I sometimes write short notes about the shops I test.

Cheap frames can look nice at first but bend easily or become loose after a few weeks. I also pay attention to return policy and customer service response time. If the first order is a disaster, I prefer to move on and not waste time with support. Sometimes I do not mind waiting longer if the price is fair and the quality is solid. Clear product descriptions save time and reduce the chance of disappointment.
